maybe all we need is a person who admires even the most bizarre of our thoughts and ideas and actually understands them

maybe all we need is a person who stands by us through all our testing times, no matter how hopeless or endless they seem or how vile or less than charming we get

maybe all we need is a person who acknowledges even the smallest of our efforts and gestures that perhaps go unnoticed

maybe all we need is a person who sees our flaws, extreme vulnerabilities and compulsions yet finds the beauty that lies within us

maybe all we need is a person who promises to be there for us at odd hours to share our sorrows or excitements and proves to be there

maybe all we need is a person who we can always go to and never sense being uninvited or unwanted

maybe all we need is a person with whom even the most fragile parts of our beings feel safe

maybe all we need is a person who listens in to our experiences and recognizes our strength to have been able to get through them all, for whom even our smallest scratches will be of interest, who tells us to go on even when we stumble or hesitate

maybe all we need is a person who loves us despite our own inability to recognize the love we deserve

maybe all we need is a person who makes

us seek the admirable parts in ourselves that we may lose sight of while making a perception about ourselves

maybe all we need is a person who understands our insanity and doesn’t respond to our crazy theories with a cynical or swift evaluation

maybe all we need is a person who we can call ours, no matter what

maybe all we really need is a teensy effort from ourselves to, in fact, find that person within us. Because we are all beautiful, and that person who we can always count on, who acknowledges our feelings no matter how crazy they get, who appreciates our efforts, who loves us without any boundaries, as a matter of fact, exists within us all, waiting to be recognized, to be called out for help; there’s a little soldier earnestly waiting inside us for only a command to fight all our battles for us. That soldier is there to help us grow within, to make us stronger, to complete us before we finally find that person in human form, who we will be our muse and our fantasy, who will stay with us just the same, not to complete us but to be the most important part of our beings, making our skies and mornings seem dreamier than before and making our plain cup of tea find its partner, coloring our days and nights with rose colored joy, filled with excitement like none experienced before. All of that to complete and make this temporary experience called life bearable, if not more beautiful, a partner who we can return to when the world’s disinterest chills and erodes us, to be put back together again. Surrounded on all sides by lesser or greater varieties of coldness, we will at last know that, in the arms of one extraordinary, patient and kindly being worthy of infinite gratitude, we truly matter.

For now, let that little soldier inside you take over, for you have to get through this to experience the beauty that lies in all the simple harmonious things that this universe beholds.
